Default Opinion of latest Movies I have seen

Gran Torino was my favorite with a splendid cast and marvelous acting and directing by Clint Eastwood. A middle aged man whose wife has died resents that his neighborhood is changing with foreigners moving in. He had worked in the Ford plant and now in retirement has restored the grand car. Trouble starts when he verbalizes his bigotted attitudes toward the local hoodlums. Fast moving and funny movie.

Changling was directed by Clint also and stars Angelena whose child has been kidnapped and replaced with a child imposter. When she tells the police this is not her child she is called a liar and learns quickly that the cops are crooked and she is in deep trouble. Fortunately the local Presbyterian minister helps her and the mystery of her sons disappearance gets very involved and exciting with different subplots . Excellent, well acted and a great movie.

Revolutionary Road had good acting but the story line was a real waste of time. The movie was slow and lacked any kind of spark. The photograpy was good and the scenery of the eastern USA neighborhood with the elms, oaks, maples etc was very green and different after living here in a desert for 20yrs.

Slum Dog Millionaire was a convoluted story about a poor kid who gets on a game show and in between each question his whole life is displayed. I felt this was not a good movie inspite of the Academy's opinion. Maybe I am too old to enjoy this type of movie.

The Reader was a sexy movie about a young male student who gets involved with an older female trolley car conductor. This summer affair had such an impact on the guy that it affected and really scarred his life. The acting was superb, the story line amusing and the foreshadowing aluring. The dicotomy of the young and old plus domination and subserviancy made this war time movie with a touch of Nazi mentality both exciting and thought provoking.

Default JULIE and JULIA

JULIE and JULIA is a stunning, hilarious, appealing tale of Julia Child rewriting the FRENCH RECEIPES in English so Americans can cook good FRENCH food. Julie a young empty housewife from the BRONX needs some flair in her life so starts her own BLOG outlining her daily cooking of JULIA CHILD's RECEIPES. Both women have interesting marriages and spunky conversation which quickly moves the story thru the trials and burned beef, deboned duck and culminated in dessert to die for. A feel good movie for men and women with mild sex and a couple of cuss words.
